We took our kids out of “brick and mortar” school last year. I wondered what we could do for P.E./playtime when I saw this great set of play/rhythm ribbons in a catalog. I thought my girls would love them, and I could make them cheaper than they were in the catalog. My girls LOVE them! They were really easy to make so I thought I would share.
Materials:
Six spools of ½ inch wide ribbon in bright colors, ¼-inch wide elastic, fray check, and white thread. Each spool makes two wristbands.
Instructions:
I cut the ribbon into 35-inch lengths and put fray check on the ends to keep them from unraveling. Next, I cut 12 pieces of elastic big enough to go around my girls’wrists plus an inch. Overlapped the elastic 1 inch and hand sew a few stitches to hold it. Next, I set my sewing machine for a wide zigzag stretch stitch. I took three same-color ribbons and folded them in half over the elastic wristband where it overlapped and sewed through all layers.
You could use just your favorite color, or maybe yarn, shorten the length and/or hand stitch to make your own!
