Pottawatomie County Home Educators Association

We are ChristianIn orientation and leadership, as are most of our members, but we do not
exclude anyone from membership on the basis of their beliefs.

We are home educators*committed to helping each other accomplish our educational goals, to support one
another in love and to strengthen and promote quality home education in
our area.

We are diverseFamilies from all walks of life. Families in our group espouse various educational philosophies, use a wide spectrum of curricula, and teach children at many levels, from pre-school through high school.

We are one of many groupsaffiliated with Oklahoma Central Home Educators Consociation – OCHEC * (www.ochec.com)
*(OCHEC defines the terms 'home education', 'homeschooling', and home schooling’ exclusively as the privately funded, home-based education and
discipleship of children by their own parents or guardians.)

We are here to provide support to homeschool families who are not using public school at home programs such as K-12, Epic, etc. If you would like to be part of our group, but you are currently using a public school at home program or considering it, we are happy to assist you in transitioning to a homeschool curriculum.
We communicate through email and the web:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCHEAGroup/ is our email loop used for information regarding the many activities, field trips, and meetings we have for current PCHEA members. It is also a way for our members to encourage each other and to share information relevant to our homeschooling families. It is for members by invitation only.

Braum's Book Buddy Reading Program

Hello Peachies,

Well the info came in too late for the back to school fair, but we can now sign up for the Braum's Book Buddy Reading Incentive Program. Here's a short blurb about it. If you have any more questions, feel free to contact me via email.

The Braum's Book Buddy Reading Incentive Program is for elementary aged children in the 1st - 5th grades only. (Sorry kindergarteners. You will need to wait till next year.) There are 6 prize coupons. Each coupon requires the student read 6 books. A sheet of 36 stickers comes with the booklet. The teacher must fill out and sign the coupons as they are given to the students. Students must be present to redeem prizes and they must be be done inside, not in the drive thru. Only one coupon may be redeemed at a time. The program runs from October when the coupons come in until June, 2012.

Now, in order to sign up please send me the following by the end of August: Parents' names, Child's name and grade, address and phone # or contact info.
Since I didn't take up a mail fee, I will try to pass these out as I see people at our support group events. Normally they don't come in until the last half of October and I will send out an email when they do.

Happy Reading and Happy Ice Cream eating!
Pamela White
