PCHEA

Pottawatomie County Home Educators Association

We are ChristianIn orientation and leadership, as are most of our members, but we do not
exclude anyone from membership on the basis of their beliefs.

We are home educators*committed to helping each other accomplish our educational goals, to support one
another in love and to strengthen and promote quality home education in
our area.

We are diverseFamilies from all walks of life. Families in our group espouse various educational philosophies, use a wide spectrum of curricula, and teach children at many levels, from pre-school through high school.

We are one of many groupsaffiliated with Oklahoma Central Home Educators Consociation – OCHEC * (www.ochec.com)
*(OCHEC defines the terms 'home education', 'homeschooling', and home schooling’ exclusively as the privately funded, home-based education and
discipleship of children by their own parents or guardians.)

We are here to provide support to homeschool families who are not using public school at home programs such as K-12, Epic, etc. If you would like to be part of our group, but you are currently using a public school at home program or considering it, we are happy to assist you in transitioning to a homeschool curriculum.
We communicate through email and the web:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCHEAGroup/ is our email loop used for information regarding the many activities, field trips, and meetings we have for current PCHEA members. It is also a way for our members to encourage each other and to share information relevant to our homeschooling families. It is for members by invitation only.

Mom's Night Out - Oct. 12

Hi Everyone,

Just want to remind you all that Mom's Night is starting up again on the 2nd Tuesdays of each month. We will be meeting at Heritage Church at 7:00. Feel free to come later than that, we are there for a couple of hours so you are welcome to walk in later.

Our discussion topic this month is "Fun Picture Books". Please bring in one or two of your family's favorites. They could be holiday books, or just a favorite story that get read over and over. Picture books apeal to a wide range of children, even older children enjoy them and can benefit from the short story plots when studying literary elements such as plot, character, theme, setting etc. We will look at these books, discuss for a while and then you'll be free to chat as you like!!!

Looking forward to seeing you all,
Nancy
